When exploring flatweave rugs for hallway & runners, it is essential to understand both the construction and the application. Flatweave rugs have no pile — they are woven flat on a loom with the weft yarn interlocking through the warp, creating a thin, lightweight, fully reversible rug. This construction has been used across India, Persia, Turkey and the Caucasus for thousands of years for everything from saddle bags to palace carpets.
Coupled with this, a runner softens the longest, most-walked surface in any home — and turns a transitional space into a designed one. The right length is critical: leave 6-12 inches of floor visible at each end of the runner, with even margins on the sides. Standard widths are 2 to 3 ft; we make custom lengths in any dimension you need.
