Bamboo silk is a sustainable luxury — derived from bamboo cellulose, it carries a soft, silky hand-feel and gentle sheen that compares closely to real silk but at a more accessible price. Bamboo grows quickly without pesticides, making this one of our most eco-conscious lustrous fibres.
We hand-tuft most bamboo silk rugs (and hand-knot select premium pieces), producing rich textures, embossed motifs and the kind of light-catching surface that brings contemporary rooms alive. Bamboo silk rugs are perfect for bedrooms, formal sitting rooms and statement areas where you want quiet luxury without the cost of pure silk.
No — it's a regenerated cellulose fibre (a type of viscose) made from bamboo. The name reflects its silky look and feel, not its origin. It is fully plant-based.
Bamboo grows rapidly without irrigation or pesticides, so the raw material is highly sustainable. Production uses chemical processing, similar to other viscose fibres, so look for OEKO-TEX certification (which all our rugs carry).
Bamboo silk is best for low-to-medium traffic areas. It's softer than wool but less hard-wearing. For high-traffic zones, pair it with wool or choose pure wool instead.
