Flatweave rugs have no pile — they are woven flat on a loom with the weft yarn interlocking through the warp, creating a thin, lightweight, fully reversible rug. This construction has been used across India, Persia, Turkey and the Caucasus for thousands of years for everything from saddle bags to palace carpets.
Our flatweave collection includes Indian dhurries, Turkish-style kilims, Scandinavian-influenced stripes, modern colour blocks and chunky bouclé textures. These rugs are practical: easy to vacuum, easy to roll up and store, work beautifully in layered styling, and slip-resist well when paired with a rug pad.
Yes — strongly recommended. A quality rug pad prevents slipping, adds cushioning underfoot, protects your floor, and extends the rug's lifespan by reducing friction.
Wool and cotton flatweaves are indoor-only. For covered outdoor areas we recommend our recycled PET flatweaves, which are weather-resistant and fade-proof.
