Hand-Knotted Rugs & Carpets
Hand-knotted carpets are the highest expression of the weaver's craft. Each knot is tied individually by hand on a vertical loom — there is no glue, no shortcut, no machine. A single 8x10 ft hand-knotted wool rug can contain over a million individual knots and take a skilled artisan 6-14 months to complete. The result is a heirloom-grade piece that gets richer with age and lasts generations.
Our hand-knotted collection includes traditional Persian medallions, Mughal florals, tribal Kazak patterns, Moroccan-inspired geometrics and clean contemporary designs. All are woven in Bhadohi using hand-spun wool, hand-dyed yarns and traditional Senneh or Persian (Ghiordes) knotting techniques. Knot densities range from 80 KPSI for everyday wool pieces up to 900 KPSI for the finest silk masterpieces.
Because we manufacture in-house, every dimension, colour and pattern is customisable. Send us your room measurements and design brief and we'll quote a fully bespoke commission.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I tell if a rug is genuinely hand-knotted?
Flip it over — on a true hand-knotted rug the back of the design is as visible as the front, with slight irregularities in knot spacing. Hand-tufted rugs have a glued canvas backing. Machine-made rugs have perfectly uniform knots.
What does KPSI mean?
KPSI stands for Knots Per Square Inch — a measure of how fine the weave is. Higher KPSI means more detail, longer making time and higher price. Wool rugs typically range 80-250 KPSI; silk rugs can reach 400-900 KPSI.
How long do hand-knotted rugs last?
With proper care, a well-made hand-knotted wool rug will last 50-100+ years. Many of the world's most valuable antique rugs are 150-300 years old and still in everyday use.
How long does it take to make a custom hand-knotted rug?
Production timelines depend on size and knot density. A 6x9 ft wool piece at 150 KPSI takes around 4-6 months; an 8x10 ft silk piece at 600 KPSI can take 12-18 months. We'll confirm timelines at quote stage.
