Hand-knotted wool is the classic combination of the carpet world — the durability and warmth of wool with the heirloom craftsmanship of individual hand-tied knots. Every piece in this collection is woven on a vertical loom in Bhadohi, knot by knot, by a master artisan whose family has been weaving for generations.
Knot densities range from 80 KPSI (everyday tribal and Kazak designs) up to 300 KPSI (fine Persian and Mughal florals). All pieces use hand-spun pure New Zealand wool or our premium Indian wool blend, hand-dyed with colourfast Swiss chrome dyes.

With normal use and proper care (vacuuming, rotation, occasional professional cleaning), a hand-knotted pure wool rug from Bhadohi will look beautiful for 50-100+ years. Many of the world's antique carpets are 150-300 years old and still in everyday use.
Hand-knotted is individual knots tied to the warp by hand — no glue, fully reversible, lasts 50+ years. Hand-tufted uses a tufting gun to push yarn through canvas, then latex-bonded — faster to produce, more affordable, lasts 10-25 years.
