Hand-Tufted Rugs

Hand-tufting is the perfect balance of craftsmanship, design flexibility and accessible pricing. A skilled artisan uses a hand-held tufting gun to punch yarn through a pre-stretched canvas, following a paper pattern. The piece is then trimmed, carved, latex-backed and finished with a cotton lining — producing a plush, sculpted rug in a fraction of the time of a hand-knotted piece.

Hand-tufting opens up design possibilities that knotting can't match easily: deep three-dimensional carving, mixed-pile heights, embossed motifs and bold contemporary patterns. We hand-tuft in pure New Zealand wool, viscose, bamboo silk and blends. Most pieces are ready in 4-8 weeks, making this ideal for projects with tighter deadlines.
