Jute is one of the most sustainable natural fibres on earth — fast-growing, biodegradable, and beautifully textured. Our handwoven jute rugs bring an organic, earthy quality to interiors that synthetic alternatives can't match. They suit coastal, Scandinavian, boho and modern-rustic schemes equally well and act as the perfect neutral foundation in a layered room.
We weave jute using traditional flat-loom techniques — bouclé, herringbone, chevron and chunky braided constructions — and can blend it with wool or cotton for added softness underfoot. Jute rugs are an eco-conscious choice and an excellent value: a 6x9 ft handwoven jute rug typically starts at a fraction of the price of a comparable wool piece.
Note that jute is not recommended for outdoor use or for wet areas (kitchens, bathrooms) as it absorbs moisture.
Pure jute has a textured, slightly coarse feel that many people enjoy. If you want softer comfort, choose a jute-wool blend or layer the jute rug under a smaller wool piece in seating areas.
No — jute absorbs moisture and will mildew if exposed to rain or damp conditions. For outdoor use we recommend our PET (recycled plastic) collection, which has a similar natural look but is fully weatherproof.
Vacuum regularly (suction only, no beater bar). For spills, blot immediately with a dry cloth — never use water, as jute can stain. For deeper cleaning, use a dry-foam carpet cleaner.
