Living rooms see constant foot traffic. Wool tolerates it for decades; viscose flattens quickly in high-wear zones and is sensitive to spills. For low-traffic bedrooms and feature areas, viscose is fine — for the living room, choose wool.
Medium pile (8-15 mm) is the sweet spot — comfortable underfoot, durable, and not so deep that it traps debris. Avoid very high-pile shaggy rugs unless layered for visual effect.
