At Ajaypee Carpets, we don't use automated machines. Every rug is a testament to human hands, utilizing weaving traditions passed down through generations in the Bhadohi district.
We source premium New Zealand wool and Indian Mulberry silk. The raw fibers are hand-carded and spun into yarn by skilled artisans to ensure the perfect tensile strength.
Using AZO-free, color-fast Swiss dyes, master dyers submerge the yarn in heated vats. Achieving the exact custom pantone shade requires decades of intuition and chemical expertise.
The digital design is converted into a 'Talim'—a woven map. A master weaver dictates the knot colors row by row to the loom artisans in a rhythmic chant.
For hand-knotted rugs, artisans tie thousands of asymmetrical (Senneh) or symmetrical (Ghiordes) knots around the cotton warp. A single 9x12 rug can take 6 months to complete.
The finished rug is washed with organic soaps to remove dust and soften the pile. It is then stretched on wooden frames under the Indian sun to dry perfectly square.
Master craftsmen use large shears to evenly clip the pile. For textured designs, patterns are meticulously hand-carved to create 3D embossing and sharp geometric lines.
Are you an interior designer or B2B buyer? We provide comprehensive sample kits so you can feel the knot density and material quality before placing a bulk order.
