A bedroom rug is the first thing your feet touch in the morning, so softness matters more than anywhere else in the house. For placement, you have two main options. Run the rug fully under the bed with at least 2-3 ft of rug visible on either side and at the foot (this typically calls for an 8x10 ft or 9x12 ft piece for a queen / king bed). Alternatively, place a smaller rug or pair of runners on either side of the bed to soften the step-out points without covering the whole floor.
