Hand-knotted wool rugs use individual wool knots tied by an artisan, which makes them denser, longer-lasting and reversible. Machine-made rugs use glue-backed synthetic fibres that shed and flatten within a few years. A well-made handmade wool rug from Bhadohi will last 30-50+ years.
New Zealand wool has longer staple fibres and a naturally higher lustre, which produces a softer, shinier finish that takes dye beautifully. We use it for our premium collections, while local Indian wool is used for hard-wearing flatweaves and dhurries.
Yes. We use Swiss chrome dyes and hand-wash every carpet before dispatch, so colours stay vibrant for decades. We're also OEKO-TEX certified — no harmful substances in any of our dyes.
