Each silk rug in this collection is hand-knotted by a senior Bhadohi weaver using A-grade pure silk yarns. Smaller decorative pieces (3x5, 4x6) take 3-6 months to complete; larger room-size carpets can take a year or more. Vacuum gently with the beater bar off, blot spills immediately with a clean white cloth (never rub), and have it professionally cleaned every 18-24 months by a specialist who handles fine silk rugs. Avoid steam cleaning and chemical solvents.
Silk thread is significantly more expensive than wool, and the high knot density (often 600+ KPSI) means a single 6x9 ft rug can take a skilled weaver 8-14 months. You're paying for material plus thousands of hours of human craftsmanship.
Pure silk is best suited to low-traffic areas like bedrooms, formal living rooms and feature wall hangings. For high-traffic areas, choose our Wool & Silk Blend or pure wool collections instead.
